Ortega Textile AG develops shirting fabrics for practitioners who recognise the difference in hand, construction, consistency, and finish. The collection is not a broad catalogue. It is a concise set of fabric families designed to do their work well.

Egyptian cotton is woven into considered constructions and completed through European finishing. Every decision is measured against the needs of the cutter, maker, wearer, and garment over time.

The Ortega standard

Built for the hands that make the shirt.

A shirting cloth begins long before it reaches the cutting table. Ortega works from the relationship between fibre, yarn, construction and finish, because each decision is felt in the cutting, sewing and wearing.

Fibre

The collection begins with Egyptian and extra-long staple cottons selected for fineness, clarity and a character that can remain legible through construction.

Construction

Poplin, twill, Oxford, warp-dyed denim and voile are not decorative categories. Each construction establishes its own balance of surface, body and movement.

Finish

European finishing completes the cloth with attention to hand, surface and consistency. It is considered as part of the fabric, not added afterwards.
